US-based vlogger Connor Franta is Gay Times magazine’s latest cover star.
Connor Franta has become the first YouTuber to feature on the front cover of UK-based gay magazine Gay Times. In the cover story for the April edition of the magazine, Connor speaks about how he came to prominence as an LGBTQ+ vlogger on YouTube.

This cover was revealed just days after Connor spoke about wearing brightly-coloured couture-style clothing of the new Spring season and lipstick in separate photoshoots. He explained in a video how the experience was “the most confident and liberated I have ever felt in my entire life.
“I had never worn lipstick before,” he said. “That was one of the first times that I remember wearing lipstick, full-on with red lips – they were overdrawn, they were matte – serving smoochable realness.”
The cover is not the first time Connor’s contribution to the LGBTQ+ community has been acknowledged by the magazine. In February, Gay Times shared his My One Gay Regret video to their readership, recognising Connor’s experience of regret for not coming out earlier as a common occurrence.
This cover follows other articles covering various YouTubers’ contributions to the LGBTQ+ community. In December 2016, Riyadh Khalaf headlined Gay Times‘s annual naked photoshoot to discuss the issue of body image within the gay community.
Connor’s story is featured in the April issue of Gay Times which is available digitally now and in stores from Monday 20 March.
