Congratulations, you made it!
No need to be modest, you should be proud that you made it through the drab and dull month that is January without letting it bring you down (it is home to the saddest day of the year, after all). And you know what, you’re looking better than ever! Did you cut your hair? Is that a new tie? You’re looking super fly, and we know you’re going to kill it in February.
You know what else successful made it out of January unscathed? The following five videos that make up this week’s Round-Up. So dive on into some A+ content and begin your February on the right foot.
We need to address this – KhanStopMe
Umm… Did we suddenly travel back in time six months? There’s no way, this can’t be… But it is. It’s a new video from Taha Khan!
Amidst the recap of some sic burnz he’s had to deal with over his YouTube absence (you’re welcome), Taha gets into a pretty interesting conversation about internal versus external validation and what that means for him as a creator. And, you know what, he’s right about one thing: if content like this requires a (long) wait, we think we can manage it. However, how about we strike a compromise at three-month intervals?
How Far I’ll Go | Cover – Carrie Hope Fletcher
We always know we’re going to fall in love ten times over whenever Carrie Hope Fletcher takes the mic, and we promise you that this video was no exception. This week, she takes on the character of Moana with a song all about following what calls you in life, despite what others may think or say. Honestly, who better to belt out those empowering themes?
Seriously, Disney, how many more flawless covers does Carrie have to pull off to prove she’s the perfect candidate for your next princess?!
Chat and Get Ready With Me – Khyan
Are you sick of the clichéd get-ready-with-me videos? Looking for something a bit more daring? Then Khyan Mansley has got just the thing for you… Well, maybe. We’re not entirely sure what this is, if we’re being honest, but we’re digging it nonetheless.
Smearing strawberry jam across his face, covering the odd Amelie track on piano, you name it – if there’s one thing we’re seriously into, it’s more Khyan content, which, by the looks of a certain cheeky promise made in the video, we’ll be seeing more of this month. Keep your eyes peeled (grape pun not intended).
Super 8 – 2016 – Adrian Bliss
If you caught even the slightest glimpse of Adrian Bliss‘s Super 8 2015 film, chances are you were waiting with bated breath for his 2016 edition. Shot on real reels of Super 8 film, this video captured the year in a way that can only be described as human: the shaky zooms and pans, the imperfections as the reel jumps frames and distorts in colour, and the candid moments when people sputter into laughter after realising they’re being filmed. It feels like something not made for YouTube, and is better for it.
Besides, who wouldn’t want to travel the world with adventure extraordinaire Jack Harries and VidCon superstar Greg McCahon?
Filthy Rich (feat. kickthePJ) – Sammy Paul
Grab a bowl of golden flakes and settle down in your comfiest, most practical fur coat because Sammy Paul is out with a new sketch. The dirty dish left on the counter. It’s the most epic of roommate disputes, so you can probably guess how this one plays out, right? Nope. Not quite. Wrong again. Trust us, you’re going to want to watch this one.
After that ending, there will only be one question on your mind: are you guys… okay?
Let’s keep the ball rolling with even more videos!
Sarah Close recently covered Rihanna’s Umbrella and wow, we forgot just how much of a jam it is!

Daniel J. Layton closed 2016’s last chapter with his twelfth and final instalment of PMS. What a beautiful ending to what was genuinely one of our favourite video projects.
It’s back, the series we never knew we needed until now. Emma Blackery and Daniel Hardcastle continue their journey to vlogging stardom by completing another chapter of the absolute creator staple, My Vlog Log. Caution: proceed armed with a blanket to combat some serious shade-throwing.
