It’s the most wonderful time of the year… for festive YouTube videos!
We know, we know. It’s Christmas week, which means you’re probably panic-ordering your gifts on Amazon, buying three sticks of butter to make your world-famous sugar cookies, and hoping you don’t lose your voice trying to hit the high notes in that Mariah Carey song. You know the one. Don’t lie to us.
While we’ve been busy getting ready for our own Christmas extravaganza, our YouTube friends have been putting together some fabulous videos to put us in the festive spirit. So take a break from tending to those paper cuts you got while wrapping, make some hot chocolate, and sit down for Five of the Best: Christmas Videos 2016!
Chatty Christmas Party GRWM | Acne / my makeup relationship – Rebecca Munroe
You may recognise Rebecca Munroe from our Five of the Best: Love-Inspired Videos! Well, keeping up with her impeccable content, Rebecca has posted this Christmas-themed GRWM, which we love! Not only do we get some of her recommendations for products and some inspiration for a new, sparkly holiday look, but she also talks candidly about how acne helped her form a positive and empowered relationship with makeup.
We also love that this tutorial is almost entirely cruelty free, spreading the love as far as possible! Pop this on as you do your makeup for that holiday party you’ve been planning for weeks and you’re sure to come out with a stunning look. With the perfect mixture of wit, charm and jazzy background music, we guarantee you’ll find yourself falling love with Rebecca, if you aren’t already.
Bittersweet this Christmas – Original Song – Melanie Baker
We’re well into December now and if you’re just as tired of listening to your mum’s favourite Christmas album as we are of ours, then Melanie Baker is your saving grace. With the voice of a gorgeous siren, even despite tonsillitis, Melanie managed to put together this gorgeous Christmas song for us.
Aptly titled Bittersweet this Christmas, this track certainly has us missing those people we can’t see this holiday season. Despite taking a more sombre approach than we might expect from a traditional Christmas tune, Melanie’s sweet acoustic guitar, genuine melodies and adorable winter imagery has us feeling festive – and wanting to keep this song on repeat. So switch off your mum’s Michael Bublé album and fall in love with this Christmas tune.
Irish People Try Mulled Wines – Facts.
Looking for some fantastic mulled wine recipes for your Yuletide celebrations? Well, our friends over at Facts. have got you covered!
Even if you don’t like wine, Christmas, or alcohol (which we find very hard to believe), this video will have you smelling cinnamon you may or may not have in your house and wishing you had a warm beverage in your hand. We told you to grab some cocoa, didn’t we?
Topped off with a giant Great Dane and some fancy Christmas hats, Facts. may actually have you looking forward to the punch at your family Christmas party.
SANTA ISN’T REAL? – kickthepj
PJ Liguori, Christmas, and Slurp – we know this is going to get us into the Christmas Spirit! First off, where do we get those magical Christmas sunglasses? We would love to look as loud and festive as PJ as we run through this list of holiday videos.
In this episode, we get some much needed answers to our burning Christmas-themed questions. Wait, do you smell that? Did we leave our list of Slurp questions next to the fire again?! Oh well, our fellow Tiny Planet Explorers did a great job with theirs. Without them, we wouldn’t know that PJ makes a great candy cane (although we always suspected) or that we’ll probably need to send someone out to search for Santa…
Then again, we may not have to search for Santa with that bombshell PJ dropped at the end of the video. We don’t believe it, PJ! No amount of Googling will convince us Santa isn’t real!
Making a Gingerbread House with Estee Lalonde – Lucy Moon
Closing out our list are the ever-wonderful Lucy Moon and Estée Lalonde! You may not be expecting such a deep conversation to accompany such a frivolous venture as building a gingerbread house, but trust Lucy and Estée to keep things wonderfully thoughtful. Chatting about the social importance placed on drinking alcohol, the pair shed light on society’s party culture, and what it means to speak for a cause.
The conversation doesn’t stop there though – oh, no. We also adore their discussion on what it means to find a balance between socialising and taking time to focus on ourselves. Just as Estée mentions: “The relationship you have with yourself is the longest relationship you’re ever going to have.”
Finally, keeping things in the festive spirit, we also get to see the construction of what we consider to be a pretty adorable gingerbread house. For not being able to see her side of the roof, we have to offer massive applause for Lucy’s polka dot design. Also, do you see that chimney? Far fancier than any gingerbread kits we’ve picked up at Tesco!
With a cup of cocoa by the fire, this video is perfect for a bit of thought and Christmas cheer.
So there you have it…
If you weren’t feeling festive before, we’re sure you must be now! We’ll let you get back to your Christmas wrapping. Just make us some more cocoa while you’re up.
