Only six sleeps until Christmas!
What is it about the festive season that makes us decide “sleeps” are a valid method of measuring time? Sure, around the holidays it’s endearing and harkens back to a childhood spent eagerly anticipating Santa’s overnight arrival, but use it out of December and you sound a bit silly. Example: we just can’t wait for the weekend! Two whole sleeps without worrying about school. Yeah, Lord of the Rings is a bit long, about 1/3 of a sleep… We think we’ll pass on any motions to make this a year-round thing, thanks.
Besides, when you’re watching the amazing videos in this week’s Round-Up, who needs sleep?
Secret Santa – Tomska
Starting us off with some funny this week is none other than Tom Ridgewell with a video that will make you aww, gasp, laugh and sit in silence while contemplating what you’ve just witnessed, all in the span of 45 seconds.
It’s classic TomSka humour, guns and all, but with a festive twist! It’s no secret we’re fans!
72. Becoming Adult – Will Darbyshire
If the holidays haven’t provided you with enough opportunities to grapple with inevitable adulthood as you’re interrogated by family members about what your future entails, then Will Darbyshire‘s newest video will certainly jumpstart the process.
In his latest video, Will tackles the daunting world of adulthood (taxes! mortgages! general responsibilities!) with an honest but optimistic outlook, reminding us that, even as a 23-year-old, he’s still struggling to find that balance we all feel “real adults” have.
…Which is nice and dandy to think about, but we’ve got some holiday footie pyjamas calling our names. Maybe we’ll bookmark this one for reference come New Year.
Xmas Video 2016 – Tom Rosenthal
When we think of vlogging, we want people to think of videos like this: fleeting and precious moments captured and fashioned into lasting memories that create an intimate, shared experience. Tom Rosenthal‘s Christmas vlog would get Scrooge himself singing Christmas carols, or at least humming along to Christmas Quiet, the newest supplement to his video series.
We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday, Tom! May you have a splendid time doing both the porky porky and the funky funky – please provide video evidence of each.
Biffy Clyro – Re-arrange (Cover) – Lou Foulkes
Lou Foulkes has graced YouTube with another cover, and it’s giving us major Ed Sheehan vibes. Seriously, give this man a loop pedal and drip him into Wembley – he’s ready.
This rendition of the Biffy Clyro original shares the same laid back musicality, but there’s a roughness in Lou’s tone that brings this version into an entirely different sphere of emotion. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a rainy winter day.
The Voicemail | TimH feat. Olan Rogers – TimH Films
Have you ever been so fed up with your manager’s inability to answer your calls that you admitted your financial ties to the Russian mafia? Same here!
Tim Hautekiet makes a brilliant return to sketch comedy this week alongside Olan Rogers, who definitely should take up more voice acting/phone-smashing jobs in the future. It’s clever, cleanly shot, and has the impeccable comedic timing we’ve come to expect from a TimH sketch.
Tim, we know LA is spoiling you with its 22° winters, but please come back. London misses you!
Of course there’s no way we could narrow it down to just five videos… You know us.
If you’re still drowning in exam stress, let Matt James help you out with some tips for deadline week! Err, maybe we should amend that to “tip”, singular. We love his style and are glad he’s posting again. Check him out!
Cards Against Humanity has become a classic, albeit not very family friendly, card game at Christmas. Here Will Carne hosts a little game with a YouTube-spin. TenEighty even gets a cheeky mention – who should be our next cover star? Watch and find out. The video also features Hayley Harp, ExpressiveKim, ImaginaryNadya, and Eleana (theLittleEasy) and friend.
Rosianna Halse Rojas‘s latest vlogmas video plays like the intro into a heartfelt, classic holiday film. Anyone else down to create a gingerbread replica of YouTube Space London?
If you can’t get enough of Zayn and Taylor Swift’s new collaboration, then be sure to check out Sarah Close‘s acoustic cover of I Don’t Wanna Live Forever. We’re pretty sure you could swap it right out for Jingle Bells, right?
