Dan Howell, Phil Lester, and Caspar Lee are among the UK YouTubers who feature in 2016 edition of YouTube Rewind.
YouTube Rewind: The Ultimate 2016 Challenge features UK YouTubers including Dan, Phil, Caspar, Olajide ‘KSI’ Olatunji, Fleur DeForce, Tom Ridgewell, Oli White, Marcus Butler, Alfie Deyes, Anna, Jonathan Saccone‑Joly, SORTEDfood, Ali-A, Suli Breaks, Emma Blackery, Scola Dondo, Vikram ‘Vikstar123’ Barn, and Felix Kjellberg.
The annual video is a celebration of YouTube featuring more than 200 creators and celebrities from 18 countries, and a mashup of popular moments from the year. Viral trends featured in the latest mashup include the mannequin challenge, water bottle flip, Orbeez challenge, pen pineapple apple pen, and the 100 layers challenge.
Dan Howell and Phil Lester discover the YouTube Play Button which has featured in multiple Rewind videos. In last year’s YouTube Rewind: Now Watch Me 2015, Felix Kjellberg and Zoe Sugg used the Play Button to rewind on the ten-year anniversary of YouTube.
Work on the production started in January 2016, and was filmed at the YouTube Space and on location in New York, Mexico City, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Madrid, Bogotá, and Lima.
“Casting Rewind is a massive and collaborative effort that involves YouTube, the Portal A team, as well as feedback from fans,” creators Portal A told TenEighty, about the 2015 video. “We’re looking at all of the big pop culture moments and particularly relevant videos from the year to see where the best fits are for talent.”
International YouTubers who feature include Joey Graceffa, Lilly Singh, Seán ‘jacksepticeye’ McLoughlin, Ingrid Nilsen, Alexa Losey, Casey Neistat, GloZell Green, Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart, Ricky Dillon, Jesse Wellens, John Green, Connor Franta, and Gigi Gorgeous.
The video is set to music produced by The Hood Internet and featuring an original remix by Major Lazer. Tracks in the video include: Closer by Chainsmokers and Halsey, Work from Home by Fifth Harmony, My Boo by Ghost Town DJs, and Sorry by Justin Bieber.
