Carrie Hope Fletcher is up for the “Best Actress in a Musical” award for her performance as Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Carrie faces competition from Amber Riley for her role in Dreamgirls, Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard, Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl, and Devon-Elise Johnson in Half a Sixpence.
Holy Smokes! I've been nominated for a WhatsOnStage award! What an honour to be in a list with such amazingly talented women!!! 😍😍😍 https://t.co/6QM5jFOWn0

The winner will be announced in February 2017 after a public vote on the WhatsOnStage website.
Speaking about how it would feel to win the award, Carrie tells TenEighty: “Just to be nominated alongside women I look up to and admire is a win in itself! Actually winning is sort of beyond the realms of fantasy currently, so I have no idea how I would feel should my name be read out on the night!
“Every single name on the list I am honoured to be a part of is a woman whom I admire!” she adds. “Amber Riley, Devon-Elise Johnson, Glenn Close, and Sheridan Smith? I mean, c’mon! That’s a dream! I really can’t quite fathom how me and Truly have made our way up there but I’m ever so grateful and feel ‘truly’ honoured! Nudge nudge wink wink!”
Reflecting on her time in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Carrie affirms that she misses playing the role of Truly. “She was a childhood dream role having played Jemima in Chitty as a child and she’s a character I found something new in every night. Never a dull moment with Truly!”
