Has anyone noticed that we always start off the Round-Up by discussing the weather?
Why is that? It’s not like it has anything to do with YouTube, but for some reason we here at TenEighty HQ can’t seem to get enough of it. Who knows, maybe we were meteorologists in a previous life… but that’s the past! Now we’re writing for an ultra cool and hip YouTube magazine (and no, we’re not exaggerating, we really are that cool) and it’s the best job in the world.
This past week on YouTube was filled with oodles of great videos. Honestly, we don’t understand how our faves manage to keep on top form week after week when we have trouble remembering to cook dinner for ourselves. That’s not a complaint though – it just means we have an excuse to eat copious amounts of takeaway food, and that’s always a good thing.
But enough jibber jabber – onto the videos!
#IAmBeingMe – BeingMe Campaign
Did you know that 84% of school-aged people and 80% of adults have experienced some form of bullying or discrimination because of their differences? We know, the stats are shockingly high and are a sad insight into society, but that’s where the #IAmBeingMe campaign comes in.
Featuring the likes of Mark Ferris, Bethany Bates, Luke Shayler, Trent Owers, and many more, the campaign aims to help us accept and embrace our differences, stating that they’re what make us special and unique. It’s a message we hope spreads like wildfire, and we encourage those of you on Instagram and Twitter to share your thoughts using the hashtag #IAmBeingMe.
Let’s show the world that bullying and discrimination will never be accepted.
This Rap Is #MadeForYou (Official Video) – Marcus Butler
If you’ve been travelling around London, odds are you’ve seen loads of promotional posters and ads about YouTube’s latest campaign, #MadeForYou. Aimed at showing the relationship between creators and their viewers, it features loads of our faves, including the one and only Marcus Butler… or should we say Marky Butt Butt?
For his take on the campaign, Marcus opted to jump back on the scene by making a rap with those who watch him. Listen carefully and you’ll see that the rap’s lyrics are actually comments from viewers who shared how they feel about their relationship with Marcus! What a fun idea that shows just how awesome the viewer-creator relationship can be.
This Isn’t About Him – SuperSamStuff
It’s been a few weeks since the American presidential election and that passage of time has allowed everyone to gather their thoughts and feelings, including Sam Saffold-Geri.
This video is a well thought-out discussion of Sam’s opinions and fears for the future, as well as a scrutiny of the conditions that led to such an outcome occurring. If you’re dissatisfied with how the election played out and have been looking to hear what some your faves have to say about it, then we definitely suggest giving Sam’s video (and the rest in his election playlist) a watch.
a love song/a non love song – doddleoddle
Is it just us, or has Dodie Clark been killing it lately? Not only did she release her debut EP late last week, but she also uploaded this little duet with American vlogger Jon Cozart!
a love song/a non love song pairs Jon’s song with Dodie’s lyrics and melodies, and the result is a collab made in heaven. Honestly, we wish we were as musically talented as these two… We can only play the triangle, and even then our timing is always a bit off.
Dodie, we’ve loved watching your journey up to this point. You’re on fire, girl!
Are Pets Ethical? – vlogbrothers
What’s cooler than having you video featured on Vlogbrothers? Having your video featured on Vlogbrothers during Pizzamas, that’s what! Don’t believe us? Just ask Lex Croucher.
Lex opted to cover the ethics of animal domestication during her time on the channel and even received some help from Felicity, her cute little feline. It’s a fun and insightful watch, and definitely one of our favourite Pizzamas 2016 instalments.
You better keep an eye on Felicity, Lex. We might end up stealing her when you’re not looking.
We couldn’t stop at just five videos…
Another week gone by means another short film trailer has dropped. Our fave? Jake Dunn‘s trailer for Detrimental. 25 November can’t come fast enough!
If Sam’s take on the election has peaked your interest, we suggest you also give Daniel J. Layton‘s latest video a watch. We wish we had his way with words.
Want to visit an abandoned theme park, but are too scared of the ghosts and ghouls that could be lurking about? Then we suggest you live vicariously through Louis Cole‘s visit to Bali.
There’s nothing worse than receiving socks for your birthday (or receiving a gift voucher and spending it on socks). Jon Aitken gets it.
