Are you ready for the most phantastic article ever?
Do you have an affinity for fringes and Sharpie cat whiskers, an obsession with anime, and a need to wear nothing but black clothes that represent the darkness in your soul? If so, the odds are you’re a member of the Phandom. What is the Phandom, you ask? Only the best YouTube fanbase on the internet, that’s what… or, to put it simply, the fans of Dan Howell and Phil Lester.
Dan and Phil are YouTube vets, having showcased their hilarious and ultra-relatable content on the site for years – heck, Phil’s pretty much been on YouTube since the beginning of time! Over the years, the pair have stolen our hearts, made us laugh, and created some iconic moments that simply need to be appreciated, which is why we had to countdown our favourites.
Get those Sharpies and llama hats ready!
11. Spoopy Halloween baking
Starting off our list are Dan and Phil’s forays into the world of baking tutorials. While the pair might not necessarily be the best bakers, we found their tutorials, including this one about spooky cupcakes, easy to follow – and they actually resulted in some pretty tasty treats.
The series has even inspired spin-offs, including an Easter video featuring Dan in a bunny costume. Who knows, maybe they’ll introduce a Christmas series as well! We hope so.
10. The Manchester apartment
We had to include the Manchester apartment in our list simply because of the videos the pair created whilst living there. Our faves include Phil’s A Day in the Life and Dan’s Sexy Internet Dating.
The apartment brings back so much nostalgia.
9. Don’t cry, craft!
Remember that crafting YouTube channel Dan and Phil set up that totally wasn’t an April Fools joke?
We never knew the two were such artists! While our squareflakes and glitter faces didn’t look nearly as good as theirs, we thank them for being so patient with us as we learnt just how unartistic we are. It’s a good thing we write for a living – at least we’re good at that!
8. When their crafting channel received a silver play button
DanAndPhilCRAFTS received a silver play button for 100k subscribers as well!

For all you wondering, the channel now has over 667,000 subscribers.
7. The Internet Is Here
Tons of our faves participated in Stand up to Cancer UK’s 2016 campaign, including the successful #StandUpWithYT live stream, which raised over £187,000 for cancer research. For their part, Dan and Phil released a charity single from their live show, titled The Internet Is Here.
It’s catchy, and the video features some serious dance moves. We suggest you give it a watch.
6. The Super Amazing Project
Early viewers of Dan and Phil will remember the pair’s internet news show, The Super Amazing Project. Your weekly stop for the news and memes that were taking the internet by storm, it was a show we looked forward to each week.
While we’re sad it’s over, we thank the YouTube gods that all the episodes are still available on the SAP YouTube channel for us to binge-watch over and over again.
5. The Internet Takeover
Dan and Phil were the first YouTubers to try their hand at presenting on BBC Radio 1, starting with their annual Christmas show (we looked forward to it every year!) and eventually moving up to their weekly Internet Takeover slot. The Internet Takeover featured the pair merging the best of radio and the internet together, offering fans both an audio and visual experience (via the BBC Radio 1 website) that radio had yet to see.
Not only was their show one of a kind, offering fans a combined audio and visual experience via the Radio 1 website, but it also opened the door for the likes of Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs, Benjamin Cook, Louise Pentland, and even Zoe Sugg to try their hand at radio, which we loved!
4. Dil
Dan and Phil have played a variety of games on their much-loved gaming channel, but the overall fan favourite has been their play through of The Sims 4. Their Sim, Dil, has become what we would call the most popular Sim on YouTube, with viewers having become enthralled with his life, from being him stalked by the infamous Eliza Pancakes to marrying the love of his life, Tabitha.
We never knew we could care about a Sim so much.
3. phil is not on fire
It wouldn’t be a countdown of our favourite Dan and Phil moments without including the phenomenon that is phil is not on fire. For us, this series is when Phan officially became a thing, when the Phandom was truly born. Our fave episode? We’re pretty big fans of the original. We mean, come on, Phil’s giraffe sound is top-notch!
Here’s hoping the duo bring back phil is not on fire for an eighth episode this year! We’ve been counting down the days on our calendar.
2. The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire
Who would we be if we didn’t mention The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire? We couldn’t put it down! Filled with funny anecdotes, personal stories, and a lot of laughs, it felt as if the pair had taken their videos and put them into book form.
1. The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire
Topping our list is the one and only The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire, Dan and Phil’s live show!
The show embodied everything we love Dan and Phil and we love that they got to tour the world with it – we mean, they got to visit Australia and America! We definitely feel it’s their greatest accomplishment to date, and we can’t wait to see how they’ll top it.
