What is going on with the weather?
We’re not quite sure if we should be going to work in a t-shirt and shorts or a raincoat and wellies at TenEighty HQ. Maybe we’re better off just staying inside and hiding from the world? That sounds like a good plan to us.
Luckily, there are plenty of YouTube videos to watch, so we won’t miss the mood swings from Mother Nature. Here are a few of our favourites from the past week!
TRANSIT – New Age Creators
If you don’t know what New Age Creators is by now, then stop what you’re doing and check out their channel. Right now. Seriously. Go do it. Have you gone and done it yet? We’ll wait for you here… GO.
In this video, Marie Jacquemin takes us on the Tube as we discover the delights of Transport for London and how we internalise the rat race. Marie had some filming help from Sam Hilton, and we think the video turned out pretty great.
Did we mention that you should check out New Age Creators? Just making sure.
A REAL HOUSE TOUR – Helen Anderson
YouTube is packed with inspiring, glossy tours of YouTubers’ houses. House tour videos are the MTV Cribs of our generation, and some of them are pretty jaw-dropping. Let’s be honest, though, they’re not all that realistic. Where are the mugs you’ve left on the side for weeks on end, or the bit of DIY that’s crept its way through the house?
Luckily for us, Helen Anderson is a realist. She’s right in the middle of transforming her pad into a majestic palace, so what better time to give her viewers a tour? Also, if you’re like us, then you love a good nose around people’s houses, so this video is literally everything. Rock on, Helen!
Camping Trip (feat. Dodie Clark) – Sammy Paul
Sammy Paul is back with another great video – and another terrible accent. Stick around to the end for that – or don’t. So offensive. Anyway, camping. Yay. Yes – that was forced enthusiasm. We’re not big camping fans… can you tell?
It took a grand total of 35 attempts to get Dodie Clark outdoors (literally us), and Camping Trip is a pretty damn funny video overall. Also, we hope someone tries to force us outside with a trail of cupcakes. That’s probably the only thing that’d get us outside in this weather.
Am I Real? – Bethany Jeffries
It’s time to get existential. We’re not talking Dan Howell kind of existential, but stick with us. In Am I Real?, Bethany Jeffries attempts to come to terms with depersonalisation and how she hasn’t been feeling very – well – like herself lately.
If you’ve got 45 seconds to spare, then this video might make you think. For something that’s so hard to convey in a video or put into words, Bethany does it beautifully. That’s really all there is to say.
Chris Big: Meninist. (Sketch) – Rhys James
Let’s be honest, it won’t be long until “meninism” is in the dictionary. Since the addition of “YOLO” and “yogalates” to the Oxford English Dictionary is nothing sacred anymore? In this sketch, Rhys James tackles meninism in the best way he knows how.
Meet Chris Big. He’s a Men’s Rights Activist, and the kind of guy you might expect to see in Nando’s with the lads after a heavy night of Jägerbombs in Oceana. Not that we’re ones to stereotype. We won’t spoil the video, but it’s pretty hilarious and made us want to headdesk on numerous occasions.
Well done, Rhys.
Looking for a little bit more?
If that wasn’t enough to keep you going, check out the other videos we’ve been glued to this week…
Lovely sunbeamsjess has put together another absolutely huge back-to-uni haul. It’s that time of year, where we revive our inner fresher and hit the student union bars, so this video is exactly what we need.
Getting over a breakup is hard. Luckily, we’ve got Gracie Francesca Victory on hand to help us through it. This video might just come at the right time for you, so if you need to, then please, indulge yourself. You’ll feel better for it.
What percentage Phil Lester are you? Are you more like Dan or Phil? Are you more Dan’s elbow or Phil’s fringe? So many questions! Thankfully, Phil took it upon himself to find the answers.
Finally, cheeky Luke Cutforth took his dad to the premiere of the new Bridget Jones’s Baby film and we’re SO JEALOUS. Don’t spoil it, we haven’t seen it yet. HNNNG Renée Zellweger.
