In the announcement video, Ben revealed that he and Steve travel to Iceland, the Canary Islands, Berlin, Scotland, and Dubai during the series. In each location, they are given 48 hours to capture one photo that sums up their time there.
“Normally we can spend over a week in a location to capture one great photo, but not everyone has that chance”, said Ben and Steve on the Mission Selfie Instagram.
The pair also explained the seemingly ironic use of the word “selfie” in the title of a series about photography. “We know, Mission Selfie is an ironic name for a show,” they said. “Selfies are a great way of capturing a memory, but to get people travelling, we wanted to combine that with an Instagram mission. So turn that camera around, get outdoors and capture that memory.
“In Mission Selfie, we aren’t taking normal selfies, we’re heading outdoors to some extreme, remote and unexplored places. We encourage everyone to do the same!”
Mission Selfie will be available on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer from Friday 19 August.
