Hands up if you’re still in the midst of the horror that is exam season…
Or, as we like to call it, exARGHm season (see what we did there?).
Oh, how we remember those days, when most of us at TenEighty HQ were doing our GCSEs and A Levels before the days of YouTube… Imagine that! No YouTube to procrastinate with help us!
Good news for you though (yes, you!), as YouTube’s around today, and so are we, and we’re telling you to take a break from your revision and enjoy what we like to call the Weekly Round-Up. Hooray!
Saviour – Jacob Collier
What’s that you say? You want some music to go with the surprisingly seasonal summer weather because you’re thinking of venturing outside? Well, it’s a good thing we discovered Jacob Collier in the depths of YouTube, isn’t it!
Jacob is a seriously impressive musician, with a seriously cool one-take video complete with projectors and all sorts of goings-on, so we definitely suggest having a look around his channel. Saviour is one of his original songs, but there are also some acapella covers lurking amongst his videos, including a particularly snazzy version of the Flintstones theme tune. We’re sold!
Vlune 5 – Meeting The President? – Adrian Bliss
Look, we’ll admit it: we were quite tempted to put all five of Adrian Bliss‘ Vlune vlogs in this week’s Round-Up – it’s just so hard to pick only one! Five days in and we’ve already had an Instagram collab, a trip to Casey Neistat’s studio, and some seriously impressive penny-boarding, and now we’ve been educated on American politics.
We’re so glad to have Adrian (and, of course, Greg and Audio Jungle) back in our lives, and we can’t wait to see how many more famous people they meet on their travels to VidCon. Current regret: not getting a cardboard cutout hybrid of the entire TenEighty team to go along with them. Although, let’s face it, that would be one super attractive human. Right, guys?
Women in Film – Jack Howard
Over on YouTube, we’ve noticed that there seem to be increasing numbers of female filmmakers, and women wanting to get into the film industry, so it’s no surprise that similar conversations are happening within Hollywood.
Recently, Jack Howard spoke to Jodie Foster about just that, and it proved to be a very interesting conversation. We definitely recommend you go and have a listen to what they have to say if you’re looking at getting into the film industry, whatever your gender!
Postcards From Slam Dunk Festival 2016 – Zoe London
You know that feeling when you really want to go to a festival, but didn’t get tickets, don’t want to leave the comfort of your duvet burrito and can’t be bothered with all that mud? Well, fortunately for you, Zoe London has created a visual postcard from Slam Dunk Festival, just for you!
We won’t lie, we are getting slight festival envy from the video, but it looks like Zoe had a great time. So we’re happy living vicariously through her for now. We also have serious jacket envy, but that’s a whole other story…
An Unsolved Mystery – Melanie Baker
OK, there’s been a lot of information thrown at you in this week’s Round-Up, so we’re going to give you a chance to chill out in the sunshine with Melanie Baker‘s latest original song. That is, if it’s still sunny. Who knows what the British weather will bring us these days!
We’re still not sure when it happened, but a little music community has seemed to pop up on YouTube in the blink of an eye and everyone within it all seems to be endlessly writing new songs that we just can’t get enough of. Our music libraries are going to get very full if we’re not careful!
Need a little bit more to stretch out your sunny revision break?
Leena Normington has been advising us (and her past self, for when she’s figured out time travel) on the reasons why you should delete people from Facebook. Just don’t delete us, please!
Last week, several YouTubers met the Pope, and Louise Pentland vlogged her experience. Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs, there’s no denying this must have been a pretty amazing experience for everyone involved!
PJ Liguori has started work on his upcoming film, Hair and Brimstone, but he’s still not giving us any clues on what it’s all about. However, he has been reading some of his subscribers’ theories on what it could be about, which are quite interesting to say the least…
Finally, if you need a bit of a giggle, Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs are back with a brand new sketch, which is as hilarious as always. It also stars Hazel Hayes, Daniel J. Layton, and the Fratocrats. What more could you want?
