YouTuber Gracie Francesca is collaborating with BBC Three for a documentary about clean eating.
The documentary will see Gracie and her team looking at the rising trend of clean eating and its various types, including where it came from and why it has grown in popularity.

Speaking with TenEighty, Gracie discusses how the collaboration between herself and the BBC came about: “I think the production company came across my videos and, probably, all my sassy tweets about various subjects,” she laughs. “I voice my opinion quite a lot and they probably liked that. It also helps that I have a lovely relationship with the BBC because of previous work I have done with them.”
Filming for the documentary has been underway for the past month, and includes participation from Gracie’s viewers. In an announcement video, Gracie explained that she would be participating in clean eating for the documentary herself, and would need help from her viewers when it comes to meal planning. Those wishing to be involved, and possibly appear in the documentary itself, have been asked to answer a handful of questions and film a video food diary showing the types of meals they eat during the day.
Along with looking at clean eating, the documentary will also be looking at diets and society’s perception of body image. When asked for her opinion on the media’s negative view of body image, Gracie replies: “The media needs to take a step back and recognise that beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes. It’s also important that the media recognise stretch marks and uneven skin, cellulite and droopy boobs. If the media showed a variety of people, normal bodies [would] become just that: normal.”
A transmission date for the documentary is yet to be announced, but Gracie says she is aiming for it go live this summer: “In my opinion, [it’s] the perfect time. Most women will be striving for a perfect bikini body and this [documentary] may shed a different light on certain diets.”
