The main cast list for The Drowning of Arthur Braxton has been released.
The announcements were made on the official @ArthurBraxton Twitter account on Friday.
James Tarpey (young Peter in The World’s End) will play Arthur Braxton, and Rebecca Hanssen (previously in short films such as Sunshine and Cracked Glass) will take the role of Delphina.
Keith Rice, whose previous works include Hollyoaks, will play the story’s bully, Tommy Clarke. He will be joined by Ben Hawkey (Hot Pie in Game of Thrones) as Cliff, Tommy’s henchman. The character Silver will be played by Malcolm Freeman (The Bill). Sophie Wright (My Mad Fat Diary) was previously announced as Laurel at the project’s launch.
The Drowning of Arthur Braxton is Luke Cutforth’s feature-length directorial debut, and is an adaptation of the Caroline Smailes novel of the same name. It follows Arthur Braxton, a teenager who runs away from school and hides in an abandoned Edwardian public bath, where he finds a naked woman swimming in the pool.
It is a Kickstarter-funded film, which raised £84,434 from 4,118 backers, beating its initial target of £75,000. The film will be released by Luke’s production company, Fireflight Film, and previously held an open casting for various roles. It is currently in production and is set to be released later this year.
