The nominees for the 2016 Shorty Awards, an annual awards event that highlights the achievements of short-form content creators, have been announced.
Since their creation in 2008, when they focussed entirely on Twitter, the awards have expanded to give prominence to online filmmakers, bloggers, and other creators.
The 2016 Shorty Awards span categories from “Arts & Entertainment” to “Team Internet”, with nominees including the likes of Tom Hanks, Drake, and Adele, alongside Emma Blackery, Jack & Finn Harries, Tanya Burr, and more.

The awards in the “Team Internet” category include “YouTube Comedian”, “YouTuber of the Year”, and “YouTube Ensemble”, amongst others such as “Viner of the Year” and “Snapchatter of the Year”.
UK nominees are featured under “YouTube Ensemble”, “YouTube Guru”, and “YouTuber of the Year”, with the likes of Dan Howell and Phil Lester, Louise Pentland, and Zoe Sugg up against US vloggers Joey Graceffa, Tyler Oakley, and Mamrie Hart. There is also a category for “Best Web Series”, for which PJ Liguori‘s Oscar’s Hotel is nominated.
