2016’s been a bit crap so far hasn’t it?
I mean, we lost both Alan Rickman AND David Bowie within a week, the weather’s been freezing, STOP THE WORLD WE WANT TO GET OFF.
So instead of 2016 we decided to revel in the better parts of 2015 for a little while longer instead, along with some of your fav YouTubers. Yes it’s Five of the Best: Send-Offs to 2015.
QUIZ: Things We Didn’t Know This Time Last Year | Cereal Time – Cereal Time
What’s better than reminiscing about Left Shark, #DeadRacoonTO, and Marks & Spencer’s advertising fail by yourself? Watching Charlie McDonnell and Jimmy Hill trying to remember them, and more, in their own Cereal Time quiz of the year of course!
We feel we should point out though boys that Jedward met Obama way back in 2011, not 2015. Yes we knew that without checking. Yes we’re massive Jedward fans. Why are you looking at us like that? Stop it.
*ahem* Anyway, as well as an entertaining look back on 2015, this also got us excited for what weird wonderful stories 2016 has in store for us. More alien crabs pls. And more Jedward. Always more Jedward.
Super 8 -2015 – Adrian Bliss
It’s not a Vlogvember revival, but instead Adrian Bliss‘s homage to the the music video for Home, originally by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (one of those songs you’ve probably heard all over the place without knowing much else about).
Featuring sumptuous 8mm film, music by Tom Rosenthal, and a whole bunch of familiar faces including Jack and Finn, Louis Cole, Ben Brown, and Tim Kellner, this montage of Adrian’s 2015 oozes nostalgia, and makes us want to grab our friends, run outside and make some memories! (Only joking, IT’S STILL KINDA COLD OUT THERE OKAY. Plus we’d need to actually find some friends…)
For such a simple concept this video has surprising depth, and had us feeling all the feelings. If we had to write a proper review it would probably feature the phrases “has real heart” and “makes us feel warm inside”. Now if only it could warm us up on the outside too.
★ 2015 ★ – KickThePJ
PJ Liguori has been putting together yearly slideshows for us since 2009, but this one felt particularly special. Not least because of all the behind the scenes snaps from Oscar’s Hotel, one of our highlights of the year and a definite event within the world of YouTube.
PJ certainly had one of the busiest 2015s we’ve seen, and this montage features almost every British YouTuber under the sun (though let’s be honest, we’re only really here for the Crabstickz), Sir Patrick Stewart (which we’re still not over) and a couple of shots from our own cover interview with him (which if you still haven’t read, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?). After a year like that, we can’t wait to see what 2016 brings for PJ.
The Good The Bad & The Just Plain Sh!t Parts of 2015- Jack & Dean
In what is now an annual tradition (and although they say it’s out of obligation, we have a hunch they just really enjoy wearing top hats and moustaches), Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs give us their own, unique look back at some of their favourite, and least favourite, movies and music from 2015.
We won’t spoil it for you if you haven’t already seen it, but Star Wars. Oh, and Star Wars. Also One Direction.
If we’re honest though, the main thing we took out of this video is that there needs to be a petition for Mr Howard and Mr Dobbs to start their own channel devoted entirely to Drake covers. I M A G I N E I T.
The Top Dan Memes of 2015 – danisnotonfire
It used to be that you could inspire one fairly successful meme and feel like you’d made it. Then along came Dan Howell, who’s inspired so many he’s able to do a best of list. And that’s just the ones from 2015. AND one of them was even tweeted by Kanye West (which definitely deserves a “Wowza!”). How can anyone compete with that? STOP RAISING THE BAR SO DAMN HIGH, we don’t even have one TenEighty meme yet *cries* (and yes, that is a call to arms to all our beloved readers).
Dan’s eschewing of the sentimental for the weird and wonderful of the internet makes for one of the most entertaining looks back on 2015 we’ve seen and yeah, the success of the book, the tour, the radio show and, well, everything last year, are all important, but you can’t say that these memes aren’t too. They so are.
Hey buddy you in London?
