Fall is slowly disappearing out of view.
And here at TenEighty HQ we’ve been doing some extensive research.
Hours upon hours of “the differences between a solstice and an equinox”, the origins of the term “fall”, the etymology of the word “autumn” and just where in the FRACK we can find PSLs at this time of year, because we DID NOT GET ENOUGH.
Also, we realised that hours of research, (while hugely beneficial in supporting our attempts to get onto University Challenge) ended up meaning that we hadn’t written a weekly round-up.
We’ll get on that, now. Soz Boz xox.
Hi, I’m a Slut – A Slam Poem – Savannah Brown
Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW.
(w o w)
Wordsmith extraordinaire and overall incredibly talented super-human Savannah Brown uploaded a new slam poem: Hi, I’m a Slut this week and, as you can tell, we were quite impressed by it.
Impassioned, moving and eloquently written, this poem will have you feeling all of the feels and questioning every value you’ve ever held.
On the topic(s) of slut shaming, objectification and male entitlement, this slam poem really strikes a powerful chord about our contemporary society.
We URGE you to sit for four and a half minutes and really, REALLY listen to these words.
Wow.
Truth 101 | thisbedottie – thisbedottie
Beautiful, softly spoken YouTube nymph Dottie James has graced our screens and tickled our ear-drums with her velvety tones once more this week.
She comes to us with an honest, candid chat about reality, online personas and the lack of safety there is in reality.
Do we look to escape the realities of life by immersing ourselves in YouTube videos, TV and other media? Or are we attempting to find alternate realities?
IS YOUTUBE REAL?
IS VLOGGING A LIE?
DO BRITISH BOYS REALLY ENJOY FOREIGN CANDY?
Some things we don’t know, but Dottie ponders on the answers to at least two out of three of those questions.
Pasta – How much is enough? – VictoriousSponge
Get your moshing hats* at the ready, people!
Andrew Bond and Ollie Firrell of Victorious Sponge uploaded a hilarious and, frankly #BRUT4L music video this week featuring the always lovely Lucy Moon.
We’ve all been there, in the kitchen rustling up a tasty, Italian-inspired dish and you get to the pasta. You sit, staring intensely at the packaging and wonder to yourself:
HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?
HOW MUCH IS TOO LITTLE?
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A FULLY GROWN MAN SCREAMING AND ROLLING AROUND ON A KITCHEN FLOOR WHILST COVERED IN PASTA?
If you wish to acquire the answers to these questions and love yourself a bit of Bring Me The Horizon-inspired musical stylings (we’re officially calling this the birth of Pastacore), then this video is truly for you.
(*moshing hats may not actually even be a thing.)
Vlogvember 14 – DRAW MY LIFE – Adrian Bliss
The last fourteen days have been an absolute ROLLERCOASTER for us at TenEighty HQ. We’ve worn down so many seats by only sitting on the edge waiting for Adrian Bliss to upload his next Vlogvember videos.
In this installment, Adrian takes us on a journey with his DRAW MY LIFE video.
We’ve felt incredibly motivated and pumped to “make all of the things” and “have fun during the day” after watching Adrian each day.
(And you’d better believe we give a MASSIVE thumbs up every. Single. Time.)
How to set your camera – #TutorialTuesdays – Cool World Network
Quason Matthews of Cool World Network uploaded the first of a weekly camera tutorial series this week, talking about picture styles and how to set up your camera for shoots.
We’ve all been there, filming a “What’s in my Bag?” tag and you later realise you’ve COMPLETELY over-saturated the shot. You look fuzzy, red and frankly NOT. ON. FLEEK.
With Quason’s tutorial series, this will be a thing of the past! Check back each week and you’ll soon be making beautiful things with your fancy equipment.
And THAT is how it’s done.
Oh, it isn’t?
OH, YEAH! We owe you more videos you lucky things.
Bethany Jeffries uploaded a lovely Halsey cover this week (THE COMPOSITION OF THE SHOT, THOUGH?! STOP BEING SO GOOD AT THINGS, BETHANY!)
Looking for a short film featuring Jamie Spicer-Lewis? Well, Matt Ley has you covered this week with his brilliant film: Finn.
Billy Stephens talks all things Terraforming with his newest video. Would you live on Mars? We’re not sure. But Billy makes some fascinating points, do check it out.
Were there any videos we missed this week? Feel free to give us a reminder-poke on Twitter @TenEightyUK, or drop us a line on Facebook at TenEightyUK.
