TenEighty was recently able to speak with Bethan Leadley about the upcoming release of her new EP, Inside Her Head, and her hosting position for 4Music’s new countdown show, The UK Music Video Chart.
“There’s a much different sound to this EP from the last one,” explains Bethan Leadley. “It’s a lot rockier and definitely gives the full band sort of feel. I guess I was inspired by working with my band. I wanted to write songs we all enjoyed playing, and it sounds a lot like the stuff I grew up listening to. There’s a lot of heart in it!”
Bethan announced on 25 September that she will be releasing her new EP, Inside Her Head, on 20 November. The release ,which will see Bethan delving into personal issues she dealt with growing up, will be the follow up to New Kinda New, which she debuted back in November 2014.

Speaking with TenEighty, Bethan discussed her new release: “A lot of it is actually reflecting back to my early teen years. I think there are parts in every songwriter’s life that they struggle to write about. That’s why I named the EP after the song ‘Inside Her Head’, because no one ever knew what I was feeling back then, despite the constant questions from family members, school, etc.”
To go along with the EP’s release, Bethan has announced she’ll be playing a show on 18 November at London’s Barfly, where fans can watch her perform a mixture of old and new songs, as well as a few covers. Set to be an intimate gig, it’ll be a show Bethan says fans will be able to attend to “just chill and listen to new songs and have a good time! I think a lot of the people [who] come will be long time supporters!”
Inside Her Head isn’t the only new event in Bethan’s life. Recently, she announced she’ll be working with 4Music on a weekly countdown show, The UK Music Video Chart, which will look at the top trending music videos in the country.
“I’d done some work for [4Music] a couple of years ago and they invited me in for a screen test for what was the ‘music video chart show'”, Bethan says about becoming the show’s host. “I assumed I didn’t get the job because I didn’t hear from them until weeks and weeks later. It was a surprise!”
The show will air Saturdays at 17.00 GMT and, according to Bethan, will feature celebrity guests, YouTuber cameos and interviews, “Basically, just my whole mad personality, but on TV in a chart show.”
“I’m exited for people’s reaction to it,” she concludes. “I love having 4Music on in the background – I think a lot of our generation [does] when it comes to getting ready to go out on a Saturday night. I’m also excited for the new segment we’ll be able to squeeze in, which I think will appeal to the YouTube audience!”
More information about The UK Music Video Chart can be found on 4Music’s website.
Those wishing to purchase tickets for Bethan’s gig at The Barfly can do so for £10.00. It should be noted that attendees must be 14+, and that those 14-16 must be accompanied by an adult.
