YouTube has launched a new gaming platform, YouTube Gaming, set to rival Amazon’s Twitch.
YouTube Gaming will collate gaming videos that are already available on the site and sort them by user and game, making it easier for users to find the content they’re interested in.

There will also be a bigger focus on live-streaming. Ryan Wyatt, Head of Gaming at YouTube, says: “We have amazing gamers that don’t live stream yet. Now they have that opportunity.”
He has also hinted at a wider live-streaming capability on YouTube in the future, “We created a live platform that will benefit YouTube,” he says. “I can picture sports, beauty tutorials, live cooking streams.”
Wyatt also spoke about the cat function on the site’s new gaming platform, saying that it utilized new moderation techniques. YouTube are still working on implementing further moderation on the main site.
The YouTube Gaming app is now available to download in the UK.
