PJ Liguori and co. have announced the characters that are to be voiced by Dan Howell, Phil Lester, Marzia Bisognin, Felix Kjellberg, and Carrie Hope Fletcher in the upcoming series.
PJ Liguori and Chris Kendall took the main stage on Sunday night of Summer in the City to announce exclusive characters in upcoming Vimeo series Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures, showing clips of the creatures who are to be voiced by a number of YouTubers.
We caught up PJ and Chris backstage before their appearance, as well as Sophie Newton, who is part of the creative team behind the series, to get a run down of the new additions.
Marzia Bisognin will play Carrie the Carrot alongside Felix Kjellberg who will play Brock, a “boisterous broccoli character”. There is also Rash, the “dim-witted rasher of bacon” who will be played by Phil Lester, and Dan Howell will play Brie, an “excitable slice of cheese”. Together they will make up the “Tribe of Lost and Forgotten Food Creatures” who will be lead by Sir Loin, a character voiced by Elliott Gould. Elliott is an American actor who previously played Monica and Ross’s father in sitcom Friends.
Also part of the cast is Carrie Hope Fletcher who will be playing Ginger Root, a character who is “old and wise, and lives at the back of the fridge”.
“I knew I wanted some good friends to play those roles, and some really cool people with very recognisable voices,” said PJ. “And once we decided, we started developing those characters and their personalities to adapt and fit with those people.”
The creatures are all original creations of the Jim Henson Creature Shop, who are also producers on the series. Thanks to the team at New Form Digital, we were able to get an exclusive photograph of the Tribe.

We also asked Chris what it was like to interact with puppets as opposed to human co-stars.
“I get asked that question quite a bit now, and it was a lot easier than people think,” he said. “It’s like Sesame Street.”
During their main stage appearance, the trio were joined by Mamrie Hart, who is also starring in the series, as well as the rest of the creative team behind the series, namely Louis Grant and Jamie Swarbrick. The group finished their 20-minute set by throwing out exclusive goodie bags containing t-shirts, stickers and temporary tattoos.
This is not the last announcement to be made in the run up to the release, and we’ve been told to keep an eye out online across the next month for more exciting news.
