Some pixie dust has been gently shaken on the YouTubiverse this week…
We’ve got flashy looking players that are all slick & shiny, we don’t have that pesky 301+ count (we know when 302 have watched… it’s an instinct…) and people are pouring out so many VEDA videos that we’ve started bringing umbrellas into our own homes.
And we LOVE it.
Composer | I’ve Been Darren – I’ve Been Darren
Darren Martin comes to us this week with an honest conversation about himself, his channels and quality vs. quantity. Our minds are frankly blown, Daz. You’re right – the sub box isn’t even a BOX! THE BOX IS A LIE- *ahem* sorry.
Darren talks about the ‘You’ in YouTube and how your obligation to your audience doesn’t extend to tailoring your content to appease others.
This video is: “You do you, boo” incarnate and we LOVE it.
Let’s Draw A Thing! | Episode 2 | Thelaserbearguy – Thelaserbearguy
We wrote a wonderful, positive response to this video – but unfortunately there was a fire. LOL JKS LMFAO !!!1!
Matt Ley offers us a big ol’ slice of the comedy pie this week with his second installment of: ‘Let’s Draw A Thing!’ where – well, he teaches us how to draw a thing. (As long as it doesn’t resemble Matt Damon…)
So, get your pens and paper ready ‘cus today you’re going to be doing some art! Or, just watching a video; we can’t force you to do art if you don’t want to, goSH MUM WE HAVE FEELINGS, TOO.
getting emotional over youtube friends lol | VEDA #3 – Emily Eaton
We’re still not bitter that we didn’t make it to Vidcon. Honestly. (We type, physically twitching.)
However, this video from Emily Eaton is so darn cute and lovely that any bitterness melted away like a chocolate bar in your back pocket on a warm summer’s day.
Emily talks about her experiences at Vidcon and meeting internet friends IRL. As a self-proclaimed introvert, Emily discusses how confident and comfortable she felt with her online friends and her worries and anxiety she felt beforehand. There’s something magic in YouTube friendships.
Oh, what’s that? Are our emotions coming back? QUICK, SOMEBODY FETCH SOME SHADE – WE’RE FEELING THINGS!
asdfmovie9 – TomSka
IT’S HAPPENED.
IT’S REALLY HAPPENED.
We’ve already fangirled hard enough, but we can’T HELP IT OH IT’S HAPPENED.
Tom Ridgewell brings us the latest installment of the ‘asdf movie’ series and it does not disappoint. We’re not going to type anymore – we need to watch it another 12 times. Brb.
One For The Road – Original Song! – doddleoddle
There are some people in this world that don’t stop showing us how talented they are. Dodie Clark is one of them.
Described in the comments section as: “bomb af”, “so scarily fecking good” and “nice” – Dodie has really out-done herself with her latest original #banging #tune #lads #cheekynandos (too far?).
Featuring some brilliant cameos and some EVEN MORE brilliant harmonies, Dodie will have your heart swelling and your knees wiggling. (Our dancing tends to be located purely in our knees; our torso stays perfectly still. We know it’s weird.)
Not had enough, you say?!
August is so full of VEDA videos, so we’ve picked out some of our favourites so far for you to feast your eyes on…
Savannah Brown has taken a slightly different approach to VEDA, doing PEDA where she uploads a poem every day in August. On the ninth day, Savannah uploaded a poem about learning new things.
AND ON THE THIRD DAY John Briddon uploaded a car ride with the lovely Francesca Georgiou. They talk Batman, rhyming and the sun. Give it a gander – it’s like you’re in the car with them.
Sam Prior also uploaded a video on day 7 (yes, we’re running with this theme) about his SitC excitement. Don’t worry, Sam – we’re ridiculously excited, too.
And finally, away from VEDA, this week saw the return of everyone’s favourite star of Tofu, Mark Ludford, after almost a year away from YouTube. In this video, they explain the reason for their absence, and why they’re back. There’s also a super cute dog. Welcome back Mark!
We’re willing to admit that we may have missed a video or two this week, fancy letting us know which? Follow us @TenEightyUK on Twitter or TenEighty UK on Facebook.
