The duo have released the 7 Second Challenge app, based off the challenge Phil created in 2014.
Dan Howell and Phil Lester have announced the 7 Second Challenge, a gaming app based off the viral video challenge Phil created with PJ Liguori last year.
Made in collaboration with Mind Candy, the creators of Moshi Monsters and PopJam, the game allows users to play the 7 Second Challenge through their phones. Offering quick play and party modes, the latter of which allows up to four players, the app utilises phone cameras as users read out challenges to their friends and film as they try to complete them within seven seconds. After the time’s up, it’s up for users to decide whether or not the challenge was done to their satisfaction by choosing either “Nailed it” or “Failed it”. The challenge is then turned into a video that users can save and share via social media.
There are hundreds of challenges available and users have the ability to suggest more through the app’s Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram accounts.
For the next month, videos posted online have the ability to be entered into weekly competitions, where winners can receive prizes from the Dan & Phil Shop.
As of right now, the 7 Second Challenge is only available through the Apple Store for £1.49, with plans for an Android release in the future.
