The play button will be given to YouTubers who surpass a subscriber count of 10 million.
The company announced its newest milestone marker during VidCon 2015, in an event that saw 35 creators become the first recipients. Each has or has surpassed 10 million subscribers on their respective channels.
Previously, YouTube had released a silver play button as a reward for creators hitting 100,000 subscribers, as well as gold button for them reaching one million.
KSIOlajideBT is the first UK YouTuber to reach the 10 million mark, with the gamer hitting the milestone on 30 July.
In an interview last year with the Telegraph, KSI said: “I remember my first video – it had zero views, it was so depressing. People were getting thousands of views and I was sitting with my zero. I pushed it out to my family and friends, and onto forums, and eventually it started to get a bit more traction. After a year, I got to 7,000 subscribers, so that was pretty crazy. After another year, it went up to around 20,000.”
KSI’s channel now has more subscribers than any other in the UK, with Zoe Sugg and Michael “VSauce” Stevens not far behind at 8.7 million and 9 million.
