BIG UP THE ROUND-UP, BRAP BRAP BRAP.
Alright, alright, maybe we should stick to the usual TenEighty tone. ANYWAY, this week we have cuteness overload (and for once it isn’t a puppy or kitten!), glowing fungi (yep, read on if you dare) and the true meaning of the struggle. It’s a wild ride from start to finish, bruv.
HEDGEHOG AND I – a 16mm short film (2015) – Ray Roberts
Prickly, charming and often found snuffling around in the undergrowth, Ray Roberts’ new short film features the wonderful Paul Neafcy at his best. His co-star? Only the world’s cutest hedgehog.
They eat ice cream together, have baths together and even sleep next to one another until something changes and their paths go in different directions (that makes it sound like there’s a horrific accident – there isn’t, don’t worry).
Give it a watch and then go and ask your parents what on earth 16mm film is.
How to Make Mushroom Lights – DIY Perks
So this may not be the usual kind of video we whack in the Round-Up, but hear us out (especially if you’re super technically-minded, which DIY Perks is all about).
We’re not going to lie, even with the combined human-power of the entire TenEighty team we’re not sure we’d be able to recreate these lights accurately but THEY LOOK SO COOL. Light-up mushrooms, for your house! Weird, yes, but a fascinating watch. We’ll go back to reviewing eating foreign candy videos now.
Have We Met Before? – Tom Rosenthal
For Tom Rosenthal’s latest video he asked people to send in footage of the views out of their windows. The resulting montage is beautiful.
Juxtaposed with Tom’s soft vocals, the scenes offer tantalising glimpses into people’s lives without revealing too much. They also make you consider the boundaries we place between the inside and outside (yeah, we’re getting deep here) and whether that’s a restriction or not. Is the grass always greener outside? I should hope so unless you’re some kind of an animal living in a pen, in which case we congratulate you for making it this far through an article.
GETTING COMFY – Mark Upson
There is nobody else in the world who perfectly encapsulates ‘The Struggle’ more than Mark Upson. It’s so bad for him that he’s made an entire video just about trying to get comfy.
First he can’t decide which position to assume when lying on the sofa, then he gets too cold, THEN he gets too hot – it’s a tough labour we think everyone can find #relatable. But we’re way more concerned about at what point do snacks come into the getting comfy equation? And the planning for these snacks to avoid having to get up multiple times? And where do the snacks go to make them reachable at all times?! QUESTIONS.
FIRST OF ALL I’M NOT WEARING ANY TROUSERS – Tate Wolverson
Tate Wolverson has lost his creative spark and the primary result of this is refusing to wear trousers.
Other things we learn from this video is are that he’s capable of a flawless laughing Voldemort impression. And there’s a very brief interlude about his nipples. And at one point he slaps himself in the face. Essentially, the whole video is just a bag of laughs from start to finish. But seriously, that Voldemort impression though.
You want more? Oh, we’ll give you more!
Are you addicted to monopoly? OmaNomMatt is, and combined with several other reasons he’s been away for a while. Watch his triumphant return video here, and revel in the fact that he is BACK (and how high his hair is getting).
Oh GOD, not ANOTHER good JacksGap video. It’s getting tiring isn’t it? This time Jack’s strapped on his slightly ridiculous camera contraption to his head and spent 24 hours in Tokyo, which includes a very cute monkey scene. Now we’d like to see some behind the scenes footage please (and people’s reactions to Jack…)
