Every week we find the best videos from UK YouTubers especially for you.
Yeah, you heard right. This weekly column is just for you. Feel special? Good, because you are. And you’re looking great today.
Now go watch these videos.
Feel Alive – Anavae
The visuals for Anavae’s latest single Feel Alive are lovely. We’re talking slow motion feathers, drumming, box smashing and some serious hair flicking. They also sound great (phew!).
Definitely one to watch, we’re pretty damn proud of Rebecca Need-Menear and Jamie Finch for becoming another YouTube success story.
But try not to think too hard about how complicated this video must have been to film. Lip-syncing lyrics backwards. No, our brains. NO.
37. Depression – Will Darbyshire
Reflecting upon his own experiences, Will Darbyshire talks about depression and adds to the ever-growing list of YouTubers speaking out about the mental illness (side note: we are SO proud of our community.)
He tackles various aspects of it including the current – and somewhat alarming – trend on Tumblr to glamourise depression and how being depressed can feel, including some simple but effective visual representations.
Whether you have or haven’t suffered from depression, Will’s video is a great source of information and reinforces the fact that none of us are alone.
CINDERELLA EXHIBITION! – Emily Jean
Dress goals, sparkly goals, princess goals.
As a massive fan of all things cosplay and Disney, Emily Jean went to the free Cinderella exhibition in Leicester Square and took her camera along with her.
The show included artefacts and parts of the model/animation process from the original film, and then props from the 2015 live action remake including all of the dresses. To say that Emily got quite excited about the big fancy blue one (that Cinderella herself wears) is a bit of an understatement. But then, wouldn’t you if you were surrounded by 1.7 million Swarovski crystals?
Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 4 – Don’t Hug Me .I’m Scared
Things are getting weird again, y’all.
After successfully funding the continuation of the series last year, we are hit with Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 4. It’s the kind of video you watch and your eyes slowly widen the longer it goes on. Words leaving your mouth might include: “how?” “um” and “what?”.
It’s also a brilliant exercise in how many different representations of the same set of characters the creators could think of, and just general creativity (which isn’t actually THAT surprising considering the people in the credits…)
My NEW Face! – Jaack
And HERE’s your feel good video of the week.
Jack Dean had been waiting a very long time to make this video. Double jaw surgery is as brutal as it sounds, and Jack takes us through the entire process from one week pre-operation to his full recovery and braces removal in the present day.
Known for often using himself as a source of humour in videos, it’s great to see Jack overcome – as he describes – his “one big insecurity”.
Also, his Nan features at several points and everybody knows including old people in a video improves them infinitely. Good job, Nan.
Don’t stop now, more awaits!
Season 5 of Game of Thrones comes out soon and, as Joel Blundell explains, catching up on all the previous episodes can be quite difficult. Particularly when you have a brother who is too young and innocent to be watching sex, violence and gore. You’re a trouper, Joel.
One of the biggest questions YouTubers get is simply: how do I become a YouTuber? Thankfully, Aaliyah Rose is on the case with this video on how to get yourself out there, the importance of having fun and some other tips for success.
Did you have a nice Easter? We hope you can move after all of that chocolate. Here’s our 5 of the Best: Easter Videos.
