Happy Easter!
It’s that time of year again where we celebrate the high god of confectionery, the Easter Bunny, rising from the grave to spread yet more chocolatey joy with his baby lamb apostles…that’s right, isn’t it? Anyway, we here at TenEighty know you’ve most likely eaten yourselves into a food coma, so we’ve collected our five favourite Easter videos to entertain you as the drowsiness takes over, or to make you want to eat more cand- hey, is that a Creme Egg over there?!
5. Easter Tat Special – Stuart Ashens
We all know that when Easter rolls around the shops become filled with shelves upon shelves of chocolate, confectionery, holiday toys and well, tat. Lots and lots of tat. In a perfect world, we’d be able to buy it all, but, sadly, we can’t, and that’s why we’re so glad Stuart Ashens has our backs.
In usual Ashens fashion, Stuart shares his opinions on various items, with this video taking Easter to a whole new level. We don’t want to spoil too much for you, so let’s just say this video includes a maggot, that weird shaved grass every Poundland sells (just what is the point of it anyway?) and so much candy it’d make Willy Wonka blush.
While it’s too late to go out and buy this all for yourselves, be assured that by tomorrow, it’ll all be on sale, so watch the video and be sure to make a list of everything you’ll want to buy (granted, we don’t think it’ll be very long).
4. Homemade DIY Easter Eggs – LaurBubble and Niki & Sammy Albon
What’s better than a LaurBubble video? How about a LaurBubble video featuring those dashing twins, Niki and Sammy?
In this Easter-themed video, the trio teach us how to make your own homemade Easter eggs because, let’s be honest, buying your own from the store is sooo last year. However, whoever thought giving these guys that much chocolate was a good idea obviously didn’t factor in the possibility that they’d pretty much eat everything before the eggs were actually made. Not that we here at TenEighty would end up doing anything different of course.
Guys, your final product is beautiful, a true masterpiece, really. We have genuinely never seen a better one, and we’re not just saying that. Who do we contact to have it put in the Easter museum?
3. Creme Egg Chocolate Brownies – Sorted Food
Who doesn’t love brownies and Creme Eggs? Now, what if we told you that you could combine the two to create the ultimate Easter treat? That’s just what the guys at Sorted Food have done. Mass hysteria broke out at TenEighty when we saw this video, there really aren’t sufficient adjectives to describe the glory of their creation.
The gooey brownie, the creamy egg, we seriously can’t keep our mouths from watering. The guys’ finished product is absolutely triumphant, a lot better looking than ours. We’re not too sure what happened, but they aren’t exactly the prettiest brownies in the world. We definitely won’t be applying for The Great British Bake-Off just yet.
2. Easter Baking – Phil Lester & Dan Howell
Phangirls, get ready. Not only does this video feature Dan Howell wearing a bunny suit and flower crown, but it also features the baking of the most hardcore of Easter treats: Extreme Easter Nests.
What makes them extreme you ask? Well you’ll have to watch the video to find out, but let’s just say we weren’t ready for that level of extremeness, and we here at TenEighty have seen a LOT of extreme things in our time. We don’t have much else to say, other than this kinda makes us want the boys to do a re-imagining of Donnie Darko. That dancing in the kitchen wearing a bunny mask is really quite something, it’s already started infiltrating our nightmares!
Easter high five, everyone!
1. Easter Bunny Origins – Tom Burns
Have you ever wondered where the Easter Werewolf Bunny Thing came from? Well, you can stop wondering because Tom Burns is here to tell you the truth about that fluffy little devil with the cutest little ears in town.
According to Tom, the bunny is a thieving little bugger who takes eggs from chickens belonging to an old man (because all good stories include an old man. Or an old woman. TenEighty believes in equal representation across our stories). One day, his daughter came around asking for eggs, only to find out these little tricksters had hidden them all in the bushes, which led to our modern day Easter Eggs hunts.
Thank you, Tom, for filling us in on this long-lost tale. However, we have one thing to ask: is it true that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy aren’t real? Please, say it ain’t so!
So there you have it…
Five of the Best: Easter. Wasn’t that egg-xcellent. A truly egg-ceptional Five of the Best, if we’re not being egg-ocentric by saying that. What? Why are you groaning? Fine, fine, we’ll hop off, we’ve still got that last stash of chocolate to get to work on after all…
