Thankfully, there were no ambiguously coloured dresses around to tear the internet apart this week.
Instead we’ve actually had a relatively sedate few days that were lacking somewhat in animal-based meme material (seems like the llama/woodpecker/weasel resources have been depleted for 2015), but fear not! Those furry little critters over on YouTube have been toiling away to bring you the best content they can muster. Let’s have a gander.
New York Fashion Week – Charlie McDonnell
“This… video? Oh. OK. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your subscription box and you select… I don’t know… that daily vlog, for instance because you’re trying to tell the world that you like to live vicariously through other people. But what you don’t know is that that video is not just a vlog, it’s not a daily vlog. It’s not content. It’s actually art.” – Mirandaissocoollike Priestley
The law of guarantees state that if you send Charlie McDonnell anywhere, to any event, or to meet any person, you will get a good video at the end of it. Should this rule be broken, the world ends, immediately. No pressure, Charlie.
The Meaning Of Life – Chloe Spinks
Gonna write something? Do it for yourself.
Gonna play an instrument? Do it for yourself.
Gonna film a prank? DO IT FOR THE VIN-
Chloe Sprinks is all about making sure everything she does is with herself in mind. Not in a selfish way, more of a ‘make the kind of content you’d actually want to watch’ kinda way.
We couldn’t agree more, but now she’s managed to solve the meaning of life, we don’t really know what to do with ourselves. Watch more videos? Alright, alright.
Delayed Reaction – Tom Ridgewell
We wish we were witty enough to make a delayed reaction joke here but instead we’re just going to focus on Thomas Ridgewell’s stylish necklace. Set against an overcast London skyline, it adds to his already menacing demeanour and really brings out the colour of his eyes. And that concludes the in-depth analysis of this video’s jewellery content.
Tom plays a gangster who seems to be pretty miffed about a guy named Tony. What did Tony do to warrant such anger? We’ll never know, but rest assured Tony definitely has a future career as a beauty vlogger on his hands if he continues to keep his asymmetrical make-up game strong. Forward-thinking and confident, we like it.
MY FIRST SINGLE ft. Conor Maynard – Caspar Lee
If you’ve ever wanted to hear a 6ft man screeching like a chimpanzee, then this is the video for you.
We’re just going to say it – Caspar Lee is a musical genius. Having examined his extensive back catalogue, it’s clear he can lend his voice to any musical genre (remember the YouTube boyband? Never forget.) Notice how this video is featuring Conor Maynard. This is because Caspar is the primary artist. Caspar is the important one.
Here at TenEighty, we want to love Conor, we really do, but as the video goes on it starts to become clear just how jealous he is of Caspar’s talent, to the point where he actually seems ungrateful that the South African is giving him this opportunity to record together. Get it together, Conor. Jeez.
Cities Skylines Gameplay Walkthrough Part 1 – BEST CITY BUILDER YET ??? – GameRiot
There’s nothing like a good binge on a city simulation game. Don’t try and deny it.
Cities Skylines comes out on 10 March and a few lucky YouTubers have been given early access, including Scott from GameRiot. At 18 minutes long, this video isn’t for the faint-hearted, but watching somebody else play God is pretty captivating.
This includes watching them plan where to put a sewage system. Don’t question it, just keep watching.
Other bits and bobs…
Sunday was #InternationalWomensDay, and to celebrate, Daniel Dobbs made an incredible mashup of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Shakira, Dodie Clark, Orla Gartland, Bethan Leadley and more. He sounds great.
Speaking of Bethan, check out her star-packed video of being on the Brit Awards 2015 red carpet, including confirmation that Ed Sheeran is indeed a proper dude.
Where didn’t I throw up? Is the question on Ant Lightfoot’s vomit-smeared lips (sorry, SORRY.) His hangover tag video gives you an insight into his birthday shenanigans and the consequences of having a tipple too many. Tales of spectacular barfing to follow.
