Jack Howard and Bertie Gilbert were among those invited to screen and speak about their new films.
YouTubers Bertie Gilbert, Jack Howard, Sammy Paul and Matt Amys spoke at the BFI (British Film Institute) Future Film Festival this weekend, screening a selection of their new work before it is released online next week.
Charlie McDonnell‘s short Offline was joined by Jack and Bertie’s Rocks That Bleed, as well as Sammy’s and Tim Hautekiet‘s The Fleeting Little Life of Peter Wright, which will go live later next week.
Matt Amys & Erin Sullivan’s Recurrence was also included in the selection, after having won Best Short Film at Canada’s Buffer Festival, 2014.
The BFI Future Film Festival gives a platform for film makers between the ages of 18 and 25 to showcase and develop their talents.
On being included in the festival Sammy, who co-wrote and directed The Fleeting Little Life of Peter Wright, said: “It was an honour to be asked along. As an online filmmaker it was surreal, humbling and rewarding to see our work on the big screen and to hear the reactions from a room fill of people. Although new media has been making of our careers thus far; there’s something you just can’t beat about that experience.”
It was recently announced Jack Howard is among ten filmmakers to be funded by New Form Media to create short films as part of Incubator 2, along with fellow Brit Benjamin Cook. Missed our catch-up with the boys about the news? Check it out!
Tim H and Bertie Gilbert took part in the original Incubator series last year, along with PJ Liguori. Why not check out our interviews with them about their films which debuted at Buffer Festival?
