Everyone could use some advice every once in a while…
Whether you’re struggling with what to wear for a big event or you’re trying to discover who you are, there is always someone that needs some wisdom, so why not turn to some of your favourite YouTubers? We’ve compiled five of the best advice videos, so come along and join us on this journey to wisdom.
5. Advice #3 – YouTube Edition – GaryC
Let’s be honest, everyone has, at some point in life, dreamt of becoming a YouTuber. Some never act on the impulse but others do, resulting in various levels of success and usually hilarious videos. Watch any of the first videos from your favourite YouTubers and you will instantly understand why the majority of them end up being deleted and treated as non-existent.
Gary C understands this problem and is here to help. As a YouTube veteran, this queen of shade knows his way around a camera. His advice is straightforward and rather useful, so sit down, get a notepad and start creating! As Gary says, “This old bird’s got a few tricks up her sleeve to teach you”.
4. Give Yourself More Credit – ItsWayPastMyBedTime
Unfortunately, not all of us were lucky enough to have a big sister growing up, so the always lovely Carrie Hope Fletcher has offered to take on the role. Carrie is always willing to help her viewers with their problems and is an inspiration to many who credit her for helping them overcome adversity.
In this video, Carrie explains why viewers need to stop crediting her for their accomplishments, stating: “It’s like a light and a light switch. Just because I flicked the switch, doesn’t necessarily mean the light is going to come on. It’s up to you whether or not the light comes on”.
This video is a must watch and trust us, you’ll be feeling all warm and fuzzy, and a little empowered, by the end.
3. Dealing with Panic Attacks & Anxiety – Zoella
YouTube’s beauty guru and award-winning vlogger is more than just a pretty face. Did you know she’s also a mental health advocate? Two years ago, Zoe Sugg uploaded a video explaining her struggles with anxiety and panic attacks and it has since gone on to be viewed nearly 2.7 million times!
Seeing as mental health issues are on the rise, it’s nice to see our favourite YouTubers addressing them in a way that’s both personable and understanding. Zoe is now the digital ambassador for the mental health charity Mind UK and is advocating for others to speak up and spread awareness. Right on, girl!
2. Feel Good 101: Depression – Emma Blackery
Emma Blackery is known for her self-deprecating humour and sassy remarks, but there’s more than one layer to this metaphorical onion (did we just compare a YouTuber to an onion?). On each of her three channels, Emma has posted countless videos aimed at helping her viewers deal with personal issues and this one about depression, which she personally describes as “scruffy girl makes good sad talkey”, is definitely our favourite.
Having experienced depression in the past, Emma is able to talk with personal insight and does so in a way that doesn’t leave anything unturned. She’s open but understanding and seeing as depression still has a taboo around it, we’re glad to see Emma is willing to address it with passion.
1. Becoming You – Troye Sivan
The majority of advice videos feature YouTubers sitting in their room, so Troye’s video is definitely outside the norm. Walking around nature in his platform Converse, he speaks about overcoming the fear of judgement and rejection.
Becoming ourselves means taking risks, being creative and staying true to what’s within us. Be the person you want to be and don’t let anyone else dictate who you should be. We love Troye’s message and his video is definitely one of our all-time favourites.
So there you have it, five of the best advice videos! Do you agree with our choices?
