After many YouTubers have deafened themselves with the intention of lip reading for online entertainment, it’s only right we pick Five Of The Best from the YouTuber Whispers challenge.
If you have yet to encounter the YouTuber Whispers challenge, essentially it involves one player with noise-cancelling headphones attempting to understand a series of phrases or Tweets the other player says to them.
Every video we’ve featured has made it their own and put their own spin on the challenge – be warned, though, lip-reading really brings out the dirty minds of YouTubers. Cheeky!
5. YouTuber Whispers Game – ThatcherJoe
The first ever YouTuber Whispers challenge right here, folks. The video that started the whole trend! Created by Joe Sugg, he does a form of Chinese whispers with his friends where a single sentence is passed along the group. This idea most definitely wasn’t pinched from Celebrity Juice on ITV2. Nope.
It’s pretty amusing to hear the end results of the whisper chain, with Chai being simply horrific at lip-reading. Seriously Chai, the stuff you think you hear…
4. WHISPER CHALLENGE!! – Ebony Day
A variation on the original, Ebony simply tries to understand the sentences fired at her while being deafened by music. What makes Ebony’s video so funny is the amazing sentences and random phrases given by her friends.
YouTube musicians Shaun and Black Prez bombard Ebony with cheeky and inappropriate statements, and to give Ebony credit – she does a surprisingly good job at lip reading!
The chemistry between the trio is fantastic and becomes even funnier when the guys begin to mouth random shapes which Ebony interprets as sentences, and the results are brilliant! A must watch.
3. The Whisper Challenge – LukeIsNotSexy w/ Emma Blackery
Brilliantly, Luke points out that the game has changed so much that the ‘whisper’ part of the whisper challenge, (deriving from the aforementioned Chinese whispers by Joe Sugg) no longer applies.
That said, the attempts of lip reading both Luke and Emma make are hilarious. Only Luke could mishear “genital warts” as “socially awkward”, and you had better watch on to discover the reply Luke gives to Emma plugging her EP.

2. I Cant Hear You Yet – ThisBeDottie & Pattie Walters
As mentioned at the start of the video by Luke, YouTube’s favourite OTP Dottie and Patty decided to do the whisper challenge, and… well… it’s adorable.
They are far too cute together in this challenge video and it’s hurting our ovaries. It not only entertains with some of the incredibly bizarre phrases that are said, but also reminds us of our loneliness and how much we long for something like #Pottie… or is that just us? Either way, a very charming and funny video!
1. Drunk Whisper Challenge – Doddleoddle ft Hannah Witton
Probably one of the more inappropriate whisper challenges to watch with your parents. Dodie and Hannah get a bit merry during the challenge and the booze only enhances the craziness of the whole thing.
We won’t spoil any more, so just have a gander and drink responsibly, kids!
