The 4:01 Show is back for its third run on YouTube. TenEighty chatted with presenter Jimmy Hill about the return of the show.
Presented by Jimmy Hill, the program relaunched last week with appearances from Mandem on the Wall and Charlie King from The Only Way is Essex, and aims to be ‘the YouTube support group for teenage humans’. This run is set to cover topics such as: sex and relationships, anxiety and puberty, dealing with family stress, body confidence, exam stress and more.
Previous guests have included Dan Howell and Phil Lester, Jack Howard and Tom Ridgewell, as well as Carrie Fletcher whose appearance sparked a controversial debate online. TenEighty caught up with presenter Jimmy Hill to find out more (and we even got our hands on some exclusive pictures from the next episode featuring Dave Brown from BoyInABand!).
TenEighty: What should we expect from the latest run of the 4:01?
Jimmy: More! We’re back again, bigger and better than ever, answering all those questions that everyone has about growing up, that we can sometimes be too embarrassed to ask or don’t know who to talk to about. We’ll be joined by YouTubers and celebrities, and getting advice about all sorts of stuff; from being single, to feeling pressure from your friends. And, as always, we want people to get involved in the comments suggesting questions and topics to be featured in our weekly shows. It’s basically a big fun support group, but on the internet.
This is your third round hosting the show, what keeps bringing you back to do more?
For a start I’m always learning something new. I did an interview the other day with a doctor all about how the brain changes during puberty – it was amazing! So interesting. I got to play with a plastic brain. Also, I remember how difficult it is to chat about stressful stuff as a teen, so it’s good to start those conversations and show that talking is the best way.
This week on the 4:01 we're talking about relationships! How do you know if you want to be in a relationship with someone?

Who has been your favourite guest on the 4:01 so far?
I shouldn’t pick favourites really… but I will. Mandem on the Wall were really fun, I wanted to be mates with them. I also loved chatting to Emma Blackery and Carrie.
If the 4:01 could get any guest to appear on it, who would you pick and what would you discuss?
Harry Styles. I’d ask him about his hair and we’d become best friends. Also, it would be interesting to learn about how he copes with being SO famous he can’t even go and get a sandwich without being screamed at.
Do you have any teasers you can share for Series 3?
My lips are sealed. I don’t want to give anything away, BUT I do plan on wearing a rather fetching Chritsmas jumper over the next few weeks. Yeah, big news, you heard it here first. Also, we’ll be talking to Mawaan Rizwan, Laura Bubble and loads of other YouTubers about things like “Is feeling really, really emotional normal?” and “How do I deal with family stress at Christmas?” I’ve probably said too much, but it’s very exciting!
This week’s episode features Dave Brown from Boyinaband. The boys will be talking about what goes on in your brain during puberty and how it can affect your emotions. They’ll be joined Dr. Lee Hudson who is a specialist in adolescent health to help explain the science behind it.
The 4:01 Show goes out every Wednesday at, you guessed it, 4:01pm. You can find their channel here and leave any questions and topic suggestions in the comments section of their videos or by tweeting them @401show.
