Bonfire Night has come and gone so now we are apparently deep into the Christmas season. Some of you cynics may be moaning about Christmas coming earlier and earlier every year but at TenEighty HQ we’re already picking out the colour scheme for our tinsel.
While we wait for the festive season to really start infecting all of our lives yet again, here’s a selection, as always, of the best from UK YouTube from the past week.
Lord Of The Rings Trilogy: Abridged! | Cribble
You’ve seen The Lord of the Rings right? Well after you watch this video from Cribble you’re going to have to watch it again, just so you can come up with your own commentary.
Cribble’s videos are blooming hilarious, and his unique perspective turns even the most serious of scenes into moments that will have you ROFL-ing. Watch out for the giant statues with the Spice Girls as their backing track, OAP breakdancing and the very legitimate concerns about the Balrog’s gas bill.
MASH UP! [I Got A Women / Rock Around The Clock / Blue Suede Shoes] | Tom Law
Do you ever wish you could ever listen to all of your favourite rock ‘n’ roll tunes, but you don’t have the time? Never fear! Everyone’s favourite fringed and six-packed musician Tom Law has come to the rescue and condensed all your favourite dated hits (well… three of them) into one mash-up megahit!
Tom freely admits that when he’s busking (send us pics if you ever see him out and about) he takes requests, but only remembers a very specific part of the song. He therefore decides to add in a few other tunes and lyrics to pad out the whole performance, giving the impression of an impressive mash-up.
However he does it, we think it makes him seem super duper clever. More of these reinterpretations please, Tom. Also, the lyric video to his new single came out this week, so have a look and give it some love.
Grace gets NAKED | Mandeville Sisters
Grace from the Mandeville gave us this very intimate look into her own insecurities about her life, her disability and ability to be candid with those closest to her. Here she really strips naked, both figuratively and literally (we believe, based on the video’s description).
Our favourite line? “I’m the person who knows she stands out, so makes sure she stands out.” We wish we could steal that as our brand motto.
It’s a response to her sister’s video of a similar ilk, which is equally candad and beautiful. Watch that here.
Theodore’s Reviews: Russell Brand Revolution | WOTO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfKX9Qw8SQw
Liam recently left World Of The Orange, leaving Brad all on his lonesome. There are even rumours of Liam’s death, despite his apparent turn to focus on his graphic design projects, which are rather good. We were initially rather sad, but in a way this has breathed new life into the channel, with Brad bombarding us with some wonderful #content.
Here we are introduced to a new character, Theodore. He’s kind enough to review the revolutionary manuscript of our time (read: sarcasm) from Russell Brand’s Revolution. Although, he doesn’t really review it, more reads aloud from it (dedications to index). And it’s also not actually Brand’s book. Who can afford £20 for a book these days? We don’t blame him.
PARKLIFE – featuring Rubberbandits | The Trews
Speaking of Russell Brand, can we count him as a YouTuber yet? His channel The Trews has been up and running for the last few months so it looks like he’s here to stay. The Trews are the news if the news were true… apparently.
He was the target of a bit of internet shade this past week, where his particularly verbally dexterous rants had ‘PARKLIFE’ pasted at the end of each sentence. It was a beautiful parody, and we all had a little giggle at his expense.
However, Brand kind of just owned us all but posting his own cover of Parklife, thus parodying his own parody. And it has a deep political message, too. Who said YouTube was vacuous?
In protest at the lack of Christmas videos in the month of November there won’t be a ‘You Want More’ section this week…
Oh, who are we kidding, we would never do that to you.
Want to hear the wonderful Khyan talk about condoms? Of course you do. Here’s his offering from last week on that very topic.
Finally; do you want to experience something beautiful? Then watch this video from Cut Media featuring mountain biker Danny Macaskill, taking on the Ridge in the Isle of Skye.
Yeah, this video isn’t technically from the last week, but we can’t believe that it took us this long to find it. You need to watch it.
