This week everyone who’s anyone has been at vidcon. We’re not jealous, no, not at all. But we have deliberately tried not to include every “OMG look, YouTubers have legs!” video in this weekly roundup (we’re saving that for a 5 Of The Best: VidCon 2014 rundown later this week, so keep your eyes peeled for that!).
So without further ado, here is the best of the best from the UK YouTube community this week. C’mon!
Emma Blackery – Ukulele Makes Everything Better
We like her, she has girl balls, and Emma doesn’t disappoint with her high dosage of sarcasm and self-deprecation in her video this week. She claims that sticking ukulele music over any video can make even the most mundane and depressing video up beat and care free.
A wonderfully tongue in cheek video with a cameo from her dad (they pretend a relative has died and then dance to a strumming ukulele in the background; it’s surreal), this will either have you giggling away or pulling a confused face. #ConfusedEmoji
Ray Roberts – Snippet Of Summer
“Summertime, and the living is easy.” A famous person sang a song about that once, and British summer seems to be stubbornly sticking around, which is surprising seeing as we’ve usually reverted to winter by the end of May.
This wonderful short film by Ray Roberts portrays perfectly the hazy warmth that has descended on the British Isles recently. Kick back for a couple of minutes, put it full screen, stick it in 1080p and enjoy the atmosphere and the groovy music washing over you.
JackFrags – Top 10 Plays – THE ONE Battlefield 4
What do you mean we only do fan girl stuff? We aren’t fan girls! We’re professional admirers of fringes and regional accents, we can be cool too! Just to prove you wrong here is a Top Ten list from JackFrags of viewers’ gameplay from Battlefield 4. After watching this five minute wonder we were baying for blood.
FPS mutli-players are all the rage these days and one shot techniques are being honed to the max. Check out some of the sickeningly good game play here and you’ll be green with envy – mostly because our technique leaves us dead within five seconds at TenEighty HQ. Number 4 is our particular favourite, how about you?
Lee Hardcastle – Luis Suarez the World cup Zombie
Yes, we know, England are out. We’re sure all our Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh viewers were backing the rest of Group D all the way. We’re going to go cry in a corner for the next four years and blame our poor performance on foreign players.
Speaking of foreign players, Luis Suarez of Liverpool and Uruguay hit the headlines because he likes to pretend to be a zombie when he’s got his kit on. There have been countless videos poking fun at the player but our favourite is from Lee Hardcastle, which is short and sweet and gets to the point. We’re not really sure what happens between zombie-Suarez and the referee at the end of the video… but I’m sure it’s all above board and legal. Have a little chuckle at this one.
Emma Pickles – Corner Cut Crease
Last time we tried to follow a makeup tutorial the best we did was somewhat like a Shanaynay tribute act, that’s why TenEighty rarely looks like anything better than a hot mess. We’ve decided to start following Emma Pickles’ videos, because she makes beauty and ambitious looks seem so simple.
Here’s a great breakdown of some eye makeup from one of the best UK Beauty Gurus out there. Want to give the Corner Cut Crease a go? Tweet us your finished look!
Liam Dryden – The Fault In Our Bias: TFIOS Movie Review!
Let’s be honest, we haven’t been able to move for The Fault in Our Stars reactions, reviews and advertising for the past couple of weeks. It came out here a few weeks later than the USA but posters with that very particular shade of blue have finally descended on our island.
Liam is a friend of John Green, the author of the book that the film is based on (like you needed us to tell you that) and this is a SPOILER FREE take on what has become a blockbuster film. This is a film everyone from the community can look fondly upon, and we also like the was Liam says “Bias”, he has such lyrical tones. Take a look and let us know what you thought of the movie!
Please Sir, Can I Have Some More..?
If that just doesn’t hit the spot, check out up and coming comedy vlogger GazzyTube. His problem of ill-thought-out purchases is something we definitely empathise with, seeing as last week was pay day, so we totally think this is #relatable.
If you want something to cool you down as you kick back and watch the last few days of the World Cup and Wimbledon, give Tanya Burr’s super healthy green smoothies a try.
And, how could we not mention the fact that OMG TROYE HAS AN ALBUM COMING OUT! *dies of fangirl* *sells kidney to buy a 1000 copies*.
