EDDIE BOWLEY – THE SHARK OF WALL STREET
Don’t worry if you haven’t seen The Wolf of Wall Street, it’s likely you’ll find this video funny, even if you have no idea what’s going on. Eddie Bowley teams up with Jamie Spicer-Lewis to parody one of the biggest movies of last year, replacing Leo DiCaprio with a shark puppet. We fly through the film’s most important moments: the bit where he loses his job, that time he gets hooked on drugs, that part where he dies in a car crash and finally when he lost an award to Matthew McConaughey. At least that’s what we think happened, right?
TOM BURNS – THINGS THAT MAKE ME FEEL OLD
Tom Burns – who doesn’t look a day over 21 – lists a few of the things that make him feel old. In the process, he makes many of us ‘old school YouTubers’ realise our futile age, reminding us how long ago Pokemon, Busted and Harry Potter films were, while the rest of the ‘new young YouTubers’ wonder what a Tamagotchi is. This truly is a community project that brings us all together through despair. Maybe we can all have an existential crisis together? One thing’s for sure, we’re looking forward to Gary C‘s video response.
JACK HARRIES – THE CAMBRIDGE DEBATE
Over the last two years there has been a lot of debate about whether or not new media platforms – particularly YouTube – will completely replace television. Arguably the most prestigious debate society in the world, The Oxford Union, decided to tackle the issue head on and invited Jack and Finn Harries, Benjamin Cook, Louise Glitter, Emma Blackery and Tom Ridgewell to argue for and against. Not only did the video give us a glimpse into how The Union works, it opened up the discussion to the YouTube community and made us ponder on the future of linear media (bit serious). Jack has even launched a discussion on his website for us to discuss it further. So go on, what do you think?
TOM RIDGEWELL – HORSE
Let’s follow a day in the life of Ms. Johnson, a half-horse half-human in a dress. She has an eventful day it seems: a brisk stroll, a day at the races, a spot of shopping, helping out the homeless, a couple of drinks down the pub and she even gets off with a man in a toilet cubicle. We also learn that she is good at wielding knives and plastic bags. Yep, as always with TomSka it’s best not to try and make sense of exactly what or why, just focus on trying to enjoy the video. We use the word ‘try’ because there is a chance it’ll give you nightmares. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
ZOE SUGG – DIGIFEST & BRIGHTON FOOD FESTIVAL
Do you guys remember DigiFest a few weeks back? If you haven’t had enough of YouTubers taking selfies and Union J strutting their stuff on stage; Zoe has given us a look at the day from the point of view of the YouTubers. Plus Zoe and her friends visited the Brighton Food Festival, making our tummies rumble at the sight of a macaroon, and you know how much we love macaroons here at TenEighty… all the cool kids love them! The video, it features a lot of familiar faces such as Joey Graceffa, Alfie Deyes, Marcus Butler and Louise Glitter to name a few. Although we’re sure we’ve heard that background music before. Isn’t it on everyone’s vlogs at the moment…
THAT CAN’T BE IT?
Of course not, funny man James Hill embarked on a vlog-everyday-of-may series dubbed JimMAY. We couldn’t pick one so here’s the whole playlist. Lex Croucher shares some of her coping mechanisms when facing her fears which include talking to spiders. And Luke Cutforth tells us how to cheat on our exams. To be honest though we don’t think you should take him too seriously. He once gave us some terrible advice about masturbation which ended in a hospital visit and two weeks on antibiotics.
And that’s this weeks round-up. What? You didn’t like it? Well go shout about it in the comment section. You could always follow us on twitter and let us know throughout the week who should be on the next round-up. Yeah, do that.
